Three - Part 2She couldn’t see the stars. The thick canopy of dark, green leaves meant that not even a glimpse of sky could be seen. Loriana had managed to light a fire, but she hadn’t been able to keep it alight for very long. She shivered, huddled at the base of a tree, hugging her knees. A thick mist crept through the forest, muffling to noises of the animals that hunted and foraged around her, and covering her from head to toe with dew. Finally, she closed her eyes. The image of the cool, dark forest around her was replaced by the flickering light of a raging fire. The heat pressed at her from all sides as smoke curled from under her front door. Three - Part 1Loriana Dreyfin scrambled through the forest, the undergrowth raked her skin and caught on her dress, she stumbled and fell beneath an old tree with gnarled branches, she sat up and hugged her knees. She could still smell the smoke; still hear their screams ringing in her ears. They were all dead, her entire family was dead, there was no way they could have survived the fire. Loriana began to cry again, she lent back against the trunk of the tree, running her fingers through her unkempt, brown hair before wiping her nose on her sleeve and looking at the forest around her.
